Carrie Regan
I’m a cross-cultural consultant, content creator, and media strategist with over 25 years of experience in developing hit content and leading global teams. You can find out more about my consulting services at Globally Minded and Global Content Strategies.
I launched my career at National Geographic Television (NGT), where I spent over a dozen years in staff positions in both content development and production. Given my prior experience in Africa, I was often tapped to organize expeditions to some of the most challenging locations around the globe.
I’ve trekked into distant forests in Tanzania in search of chimps with Jane Goodall, searched for monster pythons in remote Congolese swamps, and camped in locations ranging from the middle of the Sahara to the flanks of an active Guatemalan volcano. In 2002, I was part of the three-person crew that tracked down the “Afghan Girl,” subject of the famous 1985 National Geographic Magazine cover; the subsequent film and magazine story helped raise millions to build schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
I’ve held executive roles with some of the biggest unscripted content brands in the world. As Vice President of Global Content Production with Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), I fostered high-quality, cost-effective production collaborations across regions and around the world for its unscripted networks (including Discovery, HGTV, TLC, Travel Channel, Science Channel, Food Network, and more), working closely with teams at WBD-owned Polish broadcaster TVN. I also cultivated relationships with domestic and international film commissions and promoted the use of production incentives across WBD’s unscripted portfolio.
As Vice President of Series Development at NGT, I created/oversaw the development of over $200M in programming. As an executive producer with lifestyle network HGTV, I oversaw hit series like House Hunters International and launched the popular Emmy-nominated home renovation series Fixer to Fabulous.
I’ve been a volunteer park ranger at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico, and have spent three years as a Public Health Specialist with the US Peace Corps in Guinea, West Africa, where I produced health education videos in the local language. In my spare time, I’m passionate about crafting thrillers that keep readers turning pages long past their bedtimes. Manuscripts for my thrillers Your Last Life and The Wine Forger have been optioned by leading production companies. A fitness junkie, I’m an Ironman finisher, multiple marathon finisher, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and Certified Spinning Instructor. I speak conversational French and Spanish, can get by in Malinké, and toss out phrases in several other African languages.
I’m a Certified CQ (Cultural Intelligence) Facilitator, summa cum laude graduate of Boston University’s undergraduate College of Communication, and hold an Executive MBA (with distinction) from Trinity College Dublin.
